Kia Futsal With Soul Tournament: Bertam Ulu FC from Melaka Fighting for Top Place

The team defeated Last Minute FC, who is also from Melaka, 3-2 in a pulsating final held at the Dewan Sri Putra in Bukit Jalil on June 13 that was broadcasted live on Astro Arena. Bertam Ulu FC from Melaka represent Malaysia in the Kia Champ Into the Arena global finals in South Africa on July 1 after clinching the top place in the Kia Futsal With Soul Tournament.

Taking up the third and fourth places was Cipta FC and Dani Underground. The Kia Futsal With Soul tournament had entered its final phase on June 12 and June 13 where the top 16 teams from the qualification rounds battled it out to be crowned the inaugural champions of the tournament.
In addition to winning the championship, Bertam Ulu FC’s Jamaludin Alias was the top scorer of the tournament with six goals and was also named the Player of the Tournament.
Jamaludin will join his teammates – Mohd Ayub Alias, Riduwan Alias, Razman Abd Razak, Abu Haniffa Hasan and Mohammed Zahari Zubir – in representing Malaysia in Kia’s Champ Into the Arena finals.
A total of 13 teams will participate in the Kia Champ Into the Arena global finals in South Africa comprising of five teams from Africa and the Middle East, three teams from Asia and five teams from Europe.
Bertam Ulu FC will also be treated to a tour of Johannesburg and given tickets to watch the 2010 World Cup quarterfinal match on July 2 as well as RM10,000 in cash.
Runner-up Last Minute FC walked away with RM5,000 in cash while both Cipta FC and Dani Underground were awarded RM3,000 in cash each. Additionally, Cipta FC was named Best Fairplay Team.
The Kia Futsal With Soul tournament is part of the Malaysian Kia distributer in conjunction with the 2010 World Cup. The tournament began on May 22 in Penang and Shah Alam followed by matches in Subang and Melaka on May 29 and May 30 respectively. In conjunction with the tournament, a dedicated website – www.kiafutsalwithsoul.com.
The final rounds of the tournament last weekend was launched by Youth and Sports Minister Y.B. Dato’ Ahmad Shabery Cheek on June 11 in front of a packed audience at the Dewan Sri Putra followed by friendly match between the Youth and Sports Ministry and Naza Kia.
In addition, Naza Kia gave futsal fans and the media a sneak preview of the Kia Soul, which will be launched in Malaysia in the near future. The multiple award-winning Kia Soul has been selected by Kia Motors as the official car of the 2010 World Cup. Kia Motors is FIFA’s official partner for the 2010 World Cup.
The Kia Soul was recently named among the 15 Best Family Cars for 2010 by leading automotive research site, Edmunds.com andParents magazine. Labelled an urban passenger vehicle, the Kia Soul has been recognised internationally for its safety features, appealing styling and overall family-friendly features.
Besides the Kia Soul, Naza Kia also organized a corporate charity tournament during the final rounds of the Kia Futsal With Soul tournament. The winner of the corporate charity tournament was Naza Kia while second place and third place went to Etiqa Insurance & Takaful and Innity respectively.
A total of RM50,000 was raised from both the corporate charity tournament and registration fees for the Kia Futsal With Soul tournament. The proceeds raised will be donated to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
